See the candle's ginger glow
Reflected on the April snow
Outside the misty windows of his room
Time has rolled the year around
Yet our solitary Clown
Keeps asking, "Why do clouds still hide the moon?"

Sure, he wants to see the sun
But night has always been the one
To comfort him since she first went away
Now he dons his painted smile
Did she love him for awhile,
Or were they just a play-within-a-play?

When she took the stage, he trembled
All her lines were right on-cue
Can a heart be reassembled?
Clown, without her, hasn't got a clue.

Now the candle's glowing dim
Just one more gag is left to him
Before the final curtain and applause
Wax is melting on the floor
It doesn't matter anymore
The answer to his "Why?" is "Just because..."

When she moaned his name, he trembled
All her lines were right on-cue
                            Can a Man be reassembled?
Clown, you haven't got a clue.
No, you haven't got a clue,
                            Oh no!
